All the best to Indian Hockey team for their Olympic medal quest.
Even if we can get a bronze it would be a great result and good boost to Hockey in India.
They had mixed kinda results in the preparation matches before London games.India lost the tight match with SA 3-4. India drew Spain 3-3, lost the second Test 1-2 and beat South Africa 6-5 in the first friendly. The four matches helped the Indian players adjust to the blue turf.
Indian team has not won a major tournament from last 2-3 decades.
We have got so used to poor performances from Indian hockey team that when Indian players don't even trap the ball cleanly in a international match we don't find it pathetic(though it's our national game). From many years we are used to unprofessional performances. It's not just winning tournaments but the clear lack of fitness, team practice, skills and tactics.Now about the current team. In last 20-25 years I haven't indian hockey team so fit, strong and skilled(lot of hard work does help perfecting skill). Noobs has done a tremendous job as coach in last few months to improve our hockey team.
I can't say for sure if our team will win a medal but it's doubtless that this is the best team participating in olympics in last 3 decades.
It would be great sight to see Indian Hockey team with Olympic Medals around their necks.
